Arrived at last!!!

1960 Chevrolet BelAir sedan
This classic piece of American iron from the end of the fins 'n chrome era has finally arrived here in Scotland. It has been fitted with a more modern 350 cu in V8 which has been fully rebuilt and mated to a 700R4, 4 speed auto transmssion and a 1963 Impala rear axle. The car is fitted with wide chrome smoothies, giving it an excellent stance. It is quite presentable in metallic blue but the pics make it look a lot better than it really is. The American seller also disguised it with his pics (the last pics on the page). I have taken some close ups of bad bits to let you see. It will need a small amount of bodywork and a good paint job to win shows. The chrome and stainless trim is all there and in decent order with some minor dings in some pieces. We will update this when the car has been fully inspected, but looks like it doesn't need much mechanically. It starts and drives very wll, the 350 engine pulls like a train, sounds excellent and all gears work good with no noises or slippage and no noises from the rear axle. The exhausts will require finishing as they stop after the silencers under the car. It stops well too, but the park brake does not work so will need attention. The floor pans require some welding, don't seem to need replacing but some patch work needed. The wipers don't seem to work either, but all other electrics seem to work. Interior wise, it needs a headcloth and would benefit from a new carpet, but the seats and door panels are good. It will be road ready with a year's MOT and road tax, and we are aiming to be able to sell for under £8000 on the road.
The photos below are all we have at this time. Like most of our cars, we can sell it to you for less if you want to take it "as imported" and do any work yourself. In that case the car would be supplied with the American title and customs form C386 proving that all duties are paid. These 2 documents are essential for you to register the car after it is MOTd. Price to take the car as it is right now is £6500, but we will be starting work very soon if not sold right away, and therefore the lower price will not be available after work is started. If we go all the way and paint is as well as all mechanicals, MOT and carpet and headcloth, price will be nearer £11000. Try and import one in better condition or import a cheap one and do the work, and you'll find out you're better buying this one. At 1.49$ to £1, and with our taxes, etc it is very expensive to import now.
