1960 Mercury Montclair sedan

Hi, and welcome to this page where you will find out a little about our 1960 Mercury Montclair sedan, whether you are interested in hiring it for a wedding, or whether you simply want to find out what this weird and wonderful machine is all about.
We bought it in summer 2008 from a private seller in Florida, who created the youtube video below at the time he was offering it for sale. Please click on the video and hear what Gary has to say about it. You will hear him tell how original it is, with a genuine 75000 miles at that time, and still wearing it's original paint. He describes the paint as too good to re-do, as it's only original once. Well he's right enough, but as this car is going to be used in Scotland and not tucked away in a museum in sunny Florida, we had no option but to re-paint it in it's exact original colour. Some of the paint had been polished through to the primer, and whilst that is an original patina, a bride is more interested in an immaculate car for her special day. So, it has now been done and is ready to help make your wedding day even more special.
One of only 8510 built, it is a one year body style, and there wont be many left worldwide, and this is sure to be the only one doing wedding hire in the UK. It is the only 1960 Mercury in Scotland. So, you can be sure of exclusivity when you are being wafted along in smooth silence by the 7046cc, 310 bhp V8,  and the auto transmission with almost imperceptible changes. You will also have plenty of space as the rear legroom is extremely generous, and you will be sitting on a back seat which has hardly ever had anyone sit on it in almost 50 years.
So, take a look at the video, see the period adverts and some photos of the car. The first 4 photos below were taken in December 2010 at a ceremony at St Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh, then in Prince's Street Gardens in front of Edinburgh Castle.
